Updated October 20, 2026. Ford is a big search in Canada this week. Part of the reason is three new recalls from Transport Canada. They cover the F-150, Super Duty trucks and an older Transit Connect. There is also news from Ford's plant in Oakville, Ontario. And a Ford supplier, Dakkota, is in the news too. Here is what Ford owners and buyers need to know.
The three Ford recalls
Transport Canada posted these three recalls on October 6. It updated them on October 16. Insauga wrote about them on October 19, which helped spread the news.
1. Speedometer and tachometer (recall 2026480)
- Trucks: 2025 and 2026 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, and the F-600. The 2026 F-150 is on the list too.
- Problem: The speedometer and tachometer may not work right.
- Risk: Transport Canada says a wrong speed reading "could lead you to drive too fast without knowing."
- Fix: Ford will replace the instrument cluster.
- Insauga reported 6,935 vehicles in Canada.
2. Driver's seat bolts (recall 2026482)
- Trucks: 2025 and 2026 F-150.
- Problem: The bolts that hold the driver's seat may not be tight. The seat could move or come loose in a crash.
- Fix: The dealer will check the bolts and tighten or replace them.
- Insauga reported 563 trucks in Canada.
3. Rear camera (recall 2026481)
- Vehicle: 2015 Transit Connect.
- Problem: An earlier recall fix may not have been done right. The rear camera may not show a picture when you back up.
- Fix: The dealer will check and, if needed, replace the camera.
- Insauga reported 19 vehicles in Canada.
Ford will send owners a letter for each one. The repairs are done at a Ford dealer.
How to check your truck
You do not have to wait for the letter. Here is what I tell every truck owner.
- Find your VIN. It is on your ownership papers and at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side.
- Type it into the Ford Canada recall lookup, or the Transport Canada recall database.
- If your truck shows up, call your dealer and book the fix.
A seat bolt check is quick to book. Do it before winter. If your speedometer acts strange, watch your speed with care and get it fixed soon.
The Oakville Super Duty plant

Ford is turning its Oakville Assembly plant into a Super Duty truck plant. OakvilleIQ reported that Unifor puts the project at $2.3 billion.
Ford's own September sales report shows Oakville built 300 Super Duty trucks that month. Ford Authority reported this on October 7. It said that is 903 trucks so far in 2026. These are early trucks, not full production yet.
Ford Authority also said full production has moved, likely to early 2027. It credited Jason Del Buono of Unifor Local 707 for that news. Ford has not given a new date.
The union is bringing people back. Unifor Local 707 said Ford would recall 19 laid off members on October 13. It said this was for "launch related programs."
For buyers, this matters later, not today. More Super Duty trucks built in Canada could help supply once the plant runs at full speed.
Where Dakkota fits in
Dakkota Integrated Systems is a parts supplier. Crain's Detroit Business reported it still supplies Ford in Chicago. Its big news this week is a plant closing in Detroit that builds parts for Jeep and Dodge, not Ford. We cover that in our Dakkota and Stellantis strike vote story.
Ford workers in Canada are not part of that strike vote. Unifor already signed a new deal with Ford this year.
Shopping for a Ford truck?
A recall is not a reason to skip a truck. It means a problem was found and Ford has a fix. Before you buy new or used, ask the dealer to show that all recalls are done.
Compare the Ford F-150, the F-150 Tremor, the Ford Ranger and the Ford Maverick. Our engine oil before winter guide and fuel consumption guide can help you care for it.
What we still do not know
- The exact build dates of the recalled trucks
- When Ford will mail the letters
- When full Super Duty production starts in Oakville
- If more Oakville workers will be recalled soon
