What personal information Vehonix collects, why, how long we keep it and how to reach us.

This policy explains what personal information Vehonix collects when you use vehonix.com, why we collect it and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for visitors in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
What we collect
When you browse. You can read every page without an account. Like most websites, our server keeps technical logs (IP address, browser type, page requested and time) for security and to fix problems.
When you rate a car. We collect your name, your email address, your star ratings, any written comment and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. Your name, ratings and approved comment are shown publicly with the first letter of your last name only. Your email is never shown publicly; we use it only to contact you about your rating and to prevent abuse.
When you sign in with Google. If this option is turned on and you use it, Google shares your Google account ID, name, email address and profile picture with us. We never receive your Google password.
When you contact us. We collect your name, email, the topic and your message so we can reply.
Saved cars and comparisons. Cars you save or add to a comparison are stored in your own browser (local storage), not on our server.

The admin area uses its own session cookies for staff only. Vehonix does not load advertising or analytics trackers at this time.
Videos and third parties
Videos from YouTube and Vimeo load only when you press play. YouTube videos use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player. Video thumbnails are loaded from YouTube’s image servers, which can see your IP address. Google sign-in is provided by Google under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep information
Ratings and comments stay until you or our team delete them. Contact messages are kept while we handle your request and then deleted when no longer needed. Sign-in sessions expire after 60 days.
Where it is stored
Information is stored on the server that hosts vehonix.com. Access is limited to Vehonix staff who need it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent, by using our contact form with the topic Privacy request. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Changes
We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes.
