Editorial policy and rating guidelines
How Vehonix writes news, uses sources, corrects mistakes and moderates visitor ratings.
Last updated:
Sources first
Our articles and data pages rely on official and public sources: Natural Resources Canada for fuel consumption and emissions, Transport Canada for recalls, and manufacturers’ Canadian websites for prices and trims. Articles list their sources at the end.
No road tests yet
Vehonix has not road-tested the vehicles in the catalogue. When an article gives an opinion, it is labelled as Opinion.
Sponsored content
If an article is ever paid for or sponsored, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the page.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the article date. Send corrections through our contact page.
Visitor ratings
Anyone can rate a car from 1 to 5 stars on fuel economy, performance, comfort and safety. To keep ratings fair:
- Give your real name and a working email. Your email is never shown publicly.
- Rate a car you have owned, leased, rented or test-driven.
- Written comments are read by our team before they appear. We do not publish insults, personal information, spam, links or comments about a dealer or a person.
- Ratings that look automated or repeated from the same connection may be limited or removed.
- Ratings from visitors who sign in with Google are marked as verified.
Ratings are the opinion of visitors, not of Vehonix.
Safety recalls
Recall pages come from Transport Canada’s Vehicle Recalls Database (Open Government Licence – Canada), which we check every day.
- The official notice is shown word for word, with a link to the record on Transport Canada’s website.
- Plain-language summaries and “what to do” steps are written by our editorial team, labelled as such, and show the date they were last reviewed. They never replace the official notice.
- A risk rating, “do not drive” or “park outside” warning is only shown when the manufacturer’s or Transport Canada’s notice supports it.
- We sometimes add a recall announced by a manufacturer or a public agency before it reaches Transport Canada’s database. These are marked “Awaiting Transport Canada”, link to their source, and are replaced by the official record once it is published.
- A recall may cover only some versions or build dates. Always confirm with your VIN through the manufacturer or a dealer.
