Updated October 18, 2026. Hyundai showed the all-new Tucson on October 1 in New York. Hyundai Canada says it arrives in early 2027. It has not given a Canadian price yet. This page lists what Hyundai has said and what it has not said. The car in the photo is a pre-production model in South Korea. The Canadian version may look a little different.
What did Hyundai show on October 1?
Hyundai Motor Company held the world premiere in New York. It calls the new Tucson its "boldest SUV." Its design theme is called "Art of Steel." That means big, strong fenders and sharp body lines.
The new Tucson is bigger than the old one. These are the sizes for the long-wheelbase model, and how much each one grew:
- Length: 4,700 mm, which is 60 mm more
- Width: 1,905 mm, which is 40 mm more
- Height: 1,685 mm, which is 20 mm more
- Wheelbase: 2,785 mm, which is 30 mm more
Hyundai says the doors open wider too. The angle goes from 73 degrees to 83 degrees. That makes it easier to get in and out in a tight parking spot.
Hyundai also shows four new nature-inspired colours, such as Kodiak Blue and Red Rock Orange. Hyundai Canada's page warns that its pictures show an international pre-production model. It says wheels and specs may differ in Canada.

When can you buy it in Canada?
Hyundai Canada's page says "Arriving early 2027." Hyundai's global news release says the car goes on sale in Korea later this year. North America and Europe follow in 2027.
There is no exact Canadian date yet. Empty Tank, a Canadian car news site, also reports that Hyundai has not given a Canadian launch date.
How much will it cost?
Hyundai has not given a Canadian price. The Hyundai Canada page shows none. Some websites print a guess, such as $42,600. Those numbers did not come from Hyundai, so please ignore them.
For a starting point, here is the Tucson you can buy today. These are the prices Vehonix has checked. They do not include freight, PDI or tax.
| Today's Tucson trim | MSRP |
|---|---|
| Preferred AWD (gas) | $35,499 |
| Ultimate Hybrid AWD | $47,799 |
| Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid AWD | $53,299 |
Freight and PDI is $2,200. The new Tucson may cost more or less. Nobody knows yet. See the full Hyundai Tucson page for trims and taxes by province.
Engines and fuel use
Hyundai's global release lists three kinds of engine: gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Hyundai Canada's page confirms a gas engine for Canada and an "available" hybrid. It does not mention the plug-in hybrid.
Here is what Hyundai's global release says. The power numbers are the US ones.
- Gas: a 1.6-litre turbo engine with 184 hp and an eight-speed automatic.
- Hybrid: 233 hp. Hyundai says it is aiming for up to 42 mpg in the front-drive hybrid with 17-inch wheels. In Canadian units, that is about 5.6 L/100 km.
- Plug-in hybrid: 292 PS, a 17.1 kWh battery and about 81 km of electric range. That range is a Hyundai estimate.
Empty Tank reports these Hyundai fuel estimates. Gas models would use 8.4 L/100 km in front-drive and 9.0 L/100 km in all-wheel drive. The hybrid would use 5.6 to 6.2 L/100 km, depending on the trim. These are Hyundai's guesses. Natural Resources Canada has not rated the 2027 Tucson.
For now, NRCan rates today's Tucson at 8.8 L/100 km for the gas AWD and 6.7 L/100 km for the hybrid. You can see what those numbers cost at the pump in our fuel use and gas price guide.
Hyundai also says the hybrid can tow up to 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) in North America. That is 1,000 lb more than before.
Screens and tech
The new Tucson gets a system called Pleos Connect. It has a 12.9-inch or a 17-inch main screen. It also has a 9.9-inch screen behind the steering wheel. The system runs on Android Automotive and can get updates over the air.
Empty Tank reports that Hyundai Auto Canada says the Tucson will be the first Hyundai in Canada with Pleos Connect. An AI helper called Gleo AI is "available," which means it may not come on every trim.
The rugged XRT and XRT Pro
Hyundai also showed a tougher XRT and an XRT Pro. The XRT Pro has all-wheel drive and all-terrain tires. Its ground clearance is 210 mm. That is 30 mm more than the standard 180 mm.
Hyundai says the XRT Pro gets a new off-road helper called Smart Terrain Assist. Hyundai marks it as North America only. Empty Tank says North American buyers will get both the XRT and the XRT Pro.

A pre-production XRT with trim and tape still on it.
The new N Line
On October 12, Hyundai showed a sporty-looking Tucson N Line at the Paris Motor Show. It has its own bumpers and 20-inch wheels. The inside is black with red stitching.
Hyundai Motor Europe says N Line is mostly a style package. It is not a separate fast model. Hyundai Canada has not said if Canada will get the N Line.
What we still do not know
- The Canadian price
- The exact on-sale date
- The Canadian trims
- Fuel ratings from Natural Resources Canada
- If Canada gets the plug-in hybrid
- If Canada gets the N Line
Hyundai Canada says the new Tucson has the best cargo space in its class. It adds that this is based on its own targets and not on tests.
Should you wait?
The current Tucson is still on sale. If you need a car this winter, you do not have to wait. Check the recalls page first. Vehonix shows four Transport Canada recalls on 2026 or newer Tucsons. You can also compare the current car with the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.
If you can wait until spring, you will see real prices and ratings first. Hybrids are a big part of the plan, so look at the Tucson Hybrid and our list of the most fuel-efficient SUVs.
