The 2027 Honda Civic price in Canada starts at $29,090 MSRP for the Civic LX sedan, the same starting point as before, according to pricing Honda Canada released on October 8, 2026. The big news is a brand-new Sport-L trim at $33,550 that brings leather and heated rear seats to a gas-powered Civic for the first time, plus a new S+ Shift drive mode on the top hybrid. Freight and PDI of $1,830 is extra, and Honda's all-in "selling price" for the LX is $32,544 before taxes.

The Civic has been the best-selling passenger car in Canada for 26 of the past 28 years, Honda says, with roughly 2.3 million sold here since 1973. So when Honda reshuffles the lineup, a lot of first-time buyers and commuters notice. Here is the full price list and what each trim actually gets you.

2027 Honda Civic price in Canada: sedan trims

The sedan is built at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario, for both gas and hybrid versions. These are Honda Canada's official figures. MSRP excludes freight, PDI, taxes and fees; the selling price includes MSRP, $1,830 freight and PDI, the A/C charge and dealer and regulatory fees, which can vary by dealer and province.

Sedan trim Powertrain MSRP Selling price NRCan city/hwy/comb. (L/100 km)
LX 2.0L / CVT $29,090 $32,544 7.4 / 5.8 / 6.7
Sport-L (new) 2.0L / CVT $33,550 $37,004 7.6 / 6.0 / 6.9
Sport Hybrid Hybrid $34,850 $38,307 4.7 / 5.1 / 4.9
Sport Touring Hybrid Hybrid $38,350 $41,807 4.7 / 5.1 / 4.9

The gap between the LX and the Sport Hybrid is $5,760 at MSRP. The new Sport-L lands right in the middle of that gap, which is exactly why Honda created it.

Civic Hatchback pricing

The Civic Hatchback is built in Greensburg, Indiana, and starts higher than the sedan because there is no LX hatch.

Hatchback trim Powertrain MSRP Selling price NRCan city/hwy/comb. (L/100 km)
Sport-L (new) 2.0L / CVT $35,300 $38,754 7.7 / 6.1 / 7.0
Sport Hybrid Hybrid $36,600 $40,057 4.8 / 5.4 / 5.0
Sport Touring Hybrid Hybrid $40,100 $43,557 4.8 / 5.4 / 5.0

One thing to note if you are reading other coverage: Honda's own release says "the Civic Sport Hybrid starts at $36,600." That figure is the hatchback. The Sport Hybrid sedan is $34,850 in Honda's sedan table.

What the new Sport-L trim adds

Until now, if you wanted leather in a Civic, you had to buy the Sport Touring Hybrid. The Sport-L changes that. It keeps the 2.0-litre engine and CVT but borrows several features from the top trim:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated rear seats
  • Power-adjustable front seats
  • Silver-coloured interior trim

The hatchback version of the Sport-L also adds dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and illuminated vanity mirrors.

Honda says the Sport-L will join the lineup by the end of the year, while the rest of the 2027 Civic sedan and hatchback range arrives at dealers soon. If you want this specific trim, ask your dealer about allocation timing before you sign anything.

Sport Touring Hybrid gets S+ Shift

The other change is on the flagship hybrid. The Civic Sport Touring Hybrid now gets Honda S+ Shift, a drive mode first used on the 2026 Honda Prelude. It simulates a performance transmission with virtual rev-matched downshifts, gear holding and enhanced engine sound. It doesn't add power, but it is meant to make the hybrid feel more engaging on a back road.

Honda says hybrids make up 50 per cent of Civic sales this year, so this is not a niche update. The Civic Hybrid was also named 2025 North American Car of the Year.

Gas or hybrid: does the extra money pay off?

Compare the Sport-L sedan ($33,550) with the Sport Hybrid sedan ($34,850). The difference is $1,300 at MSRP. NRCan rates the Sport-L at 6.9 L/100 km combined and the Sport Hybrid at 4.9, a 2.0 L/100 km gap.

If you drive 20,000 km a year, that works out to about 400 litres of fuel saved. At $1.50 a litre, that's roughly $600 a year, so the price gap could be covered in a little over two years. Your own number depends on fuel prices in your province and how much city driving you do, where the hybrid's advantage is biggest (7.6 vs 4.7 L/100 km city).

The trade-off: the Sport-L has the leather and heated rear seats, while the Sport Hybrid focuses on efficiency and performance. Pick the one that matches how you use the car.

Standard safety on every Civic

Every 2027 Civic comes with the Honda Sensing suite, including Collision Mitigation Braking System with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning. All Sport models add blind spot information with rear cross traffic alert, which means the LX is the only trim without it.

How the Civic fits against rivals

The Civic competes with compact sedans such as the Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra. If you want to sit higher and need more cargo room, Honda's own HR-V is the subcompact SUV option. Compare pricing on each model page, and remember that freight and dealer fees differ between brands, so compare all-in prices, not just MSRP.

Our take

The 2027 Civic doesn't reinvent anything, but the pricing is smart. The LX stays at $29,090, the hybrid stays within reach, and the Sport-L fills a gap many buyers complained about: wanting a few comfort features without paying for the hybrid. For winter-heavy provinces, heated rear seats at $33,550 will be an easy sell.
