2027 Subaru Crosstrek Pricing in Canada: The Hybrid Onyx Is the New Way In
Subaru Canada announced 2027 Crosstrek pricing on October 13, and the big news is a new trim. The Hybrid Onyx brings the 194-horsepower hybrid system down to $36,995 MSRP, which is $3,500 less than the Hybrid Limited and $1,600 more than the gasoline Onyx.
Here is what the release says, what changed from 2026, and what Subaru hasn't told us yet.
What's new for 2027
The Crosstrek now comes in six trims: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Hybrid Onyx, Limited and Hybrid Limited. Gasoline models use a 2.5-litre Boxer engine with 180 hp. The two hybrids make 194 hp total system output. Symmetrical all-wheel drive is standard on every trim.
The Hybrid Onyx is the only new trim. Subaru describes it as a more accessible entry point to its hybrid system. Until now, the only hybrid in the lineup was the Limited, which Vehonix lists at $40,595 for 2026.
2027 Crosstrek prices in Canada
These are Subaru Canada's official figures from the October 13 release. The "estimated vehicle price" (EVP) includes MSRP, freight and PDI, the A/C charge and maximum dealer and other fees. It excludes taxes, licence, insurance and registration.
| Trim | Engine | MSRP | Estimated vehicle price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Convenience | 180-hp 2.5L | $30,695 | $33,742 |
| Touring | 180-hp 2.5L | $33,895 | $36,942 |
| Onyx | 180-hp 2.5L | $35,395 | $38,456 |
| Hybrid Onyx (new) | 194-hp 2.5L hybrid | $36,995 | $40,056 |
| Limited | 180-hp 2.5L | $38,495 | $41,556 |
| Hybrid Limited | 194-hp 2.5L hybrid | $40,495 | $43,552 |
The gap between MSRP and EVP is about $3,050 to $3,060 on every trim. Plan your budget around the EVP, not the headline price, and then add sales tax.
How 2027 compares with 2026
Prices went up on four of the five trims that existed in 2026, and the hybrid went down slightly. The 2026 figures below are the MSRPs on Vehonix's 2026 Crosstrek page.
| Trim | 2026 MSRP | 2027 MSRP | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Convenience | $30,595 | $30,695 | +$100 |
| Touring | $33,595 | $33,895 | +$300 |
| Onyx | $35,095 | $35,395 | +$300 |
| Limited | $38,095 | $38,495 | +$400 |
| Hybrid Limited | $40,595 | $40,495 | −$100 |
The Limited and Hybrid Limited also lose something: the surround-view 360-degree camera is no longer included for 2027. That makes the price increase on the gasoline Limited harder to love.
What the Hybrid Onyx gets you
Subaru's release lists a series-parallel hybrid system with a 2.5-litre Boxer engine, two electric motors, a hybrid CVT and a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery. It also has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with navigation. Subaru says that cluster stays exclusive to the hybrids.
The gasoline Onyx adds black 18-inch wheels, yellow accents, a 10-way power driver's seat, Reverse Automatic Braking and dual-function X-MODE. The release doesn't spell out which of those carry over to the Hybrid Onyx, so confirm the equipment list with a dealer before you decide.
The 1,000 km claim, in context
Subaru says the hybrids can go up to 1,000 km on a single 63-litre tank, based on Natural Resources Canada's estimated fuel economy ratings. That works out to roughly 6.3 L/100 km, which is our arithmetic, not a published rating.
For comparison, NRCan rated the 2026 Hybrid Limited at 6.5 L/100 km combined and the 2026 Convenience gasoline model at 8.1. NRCan's 2027 ratings aren't in the announcement, so treat 1,000 km as an "up to" figure until they are.
As a rough guide, a 1.6 L/100 km difference over 20,000 km is about 320 litres a year. At an example price of $1.60 a litre, that's around $512. Against the $1,600 hybrid premium, it would take about three years to break even. Use your own pump price and mileage, and remember we're borrowing a 2026 Convenience rating as a stand-in for the gasoline Onyx.

Where it sits against rivals
On Vehonix's 2026 data, the closest compact SUV matches by price are the Toyota Corolla Cross, a hybrid with AWD from $28,580, and the Mazda CX-30, from $29,300. Both start below the Crosstrek Convenience, and Vehonix lists AWD on every trim of all three. What the Crosstrek now adds is a hybrid option under $37,000.
If you need more space, the Subaru Forester is the larger model in the same brand. Check it against the Crosstrek on price and cargo before you commit.
